Audience
This article is for EasySIGN users, IT administrators, and support teams troubleshooting an EasySIGN startup issue where the software remains on Initializing.
Primary use cases
Use this article when:
• EasySIGN starts but does not continue past Initializing.
• EasySIGN does not fully open after installation on a new PC.
• The EasySIGN license login appears correct, but the application still does not start.
• CodeMeter may be blocking the EasySIGN startup process.
• Support has already checked that the customer can sign in with the correct EasySIGN account.
Customer scenario
A user installs EasySIGN on a new computer and signs in with the EasySIGN account. During startup, EasySIGN remains on Initializing and does not continue to the workspace.
In the confirmed case, reinstalling CodeMeter Runtime Kit solved the startup issue.
Summary
If EasySIGN remains on Initializing, first check whether the EasySIGN license login status is correct.
If the license login is correct and EasySIGN still does not continue, remove CodeMeter Runtime Kit through Windows and then reinstall it by running the EasySIGN setup again.
This procedure can restore the CodeMeter components that EasySIGN needs during startup.
1. Purpose and scope
This article explains what to do when EasySIGN does not start and remains on Initializing.
It covers:
• Checking the EasySIGN license login status first.
• Removing CodeMeter Runtime Kit safely through Windows.
• Reinstalling CodeMeter by running the EasySIGN setup again.
• Validating that EasySIGN starts correctly after the reinstall.
This article does not cover firewall or online license server allowlisting. For network-related license retrieval issues, use the related firewall article.
2. Symptoms or customer problem
You may see one or more of the following symptoms:
• EasySIGN starts but remains on Initializing.
• The EasySIGN workspace does not open.
• The issue occurs on a new PC or after a fresh installation.
• The user has signed in or attempted to sign in with an EasySIGN account.
• Restarting EasySIGN does not solve the issue.
• CodeMeter may be interfering with the startup process.
3. Cause or background
EasySIGN uses CodeMeter components for licensing. If CodeMeter is damaged, blocked, outdated, or not working correctly, EasySIGN may not complete startup.
In the confirmed case, CodeMeter blocked EasySIGN from starting. Removing and reinstalling CodeMeter resolved the problem.
Windows 11 Home was observed in the source case, but this is only an environment detail. The troubleshooting step is not limited to Windows 11 Home.
4. Solution
First check whether the EasySIGN license login status is correct.
If the license login status is correct and EasySIGN still remains on Initializing, reinstall CodeMeter Runtime Kit.
Use the standard Windows uninstall method:
• Settings → Apps → Installed apps
or
• Control Panel → Programs and Features
After removing CodeMeter Runtime Kit, run the EasySIGN setup again. This reinstalls the required CodeMeter components.
5. Step-by-step procedure
Step 1: Check the EasySIGN license login status
- Confirm that the user is signing in with the correct EasySIGN account.
- Confirm that the account has an active EasySIGN license.
- If the license cannot be retrieved, first check firewall or online license access.
- If the license login status is correct but EasySIGN remains on Initializing, continue with the CodeMeter reinstall procedure.
Step 2: Close EasySIGN
- Close EasySIGN.
- Wait a few seconds to make sure the application has fully closed.
- If needed, restart Windows before continuing.
Step 3: Remove CodeMeter Runtime Kit through Windows
- Open Settings.
- Go to Apps.
- Open Installed apps.
- Look for CodeMeter Runtime Kit.
- Select CodeMeter Runtime Kit.
- Choose Uninstall or Remove.
- Follow the Windows uninstall steps.
Alternative Windows route:
- Open Control Panel.
- Go to Programs and Features.
- Select CodeMeter Runtime Kit.
- Choose Uninstall or Remove.
- Follow the Windows uninstall steps.
Step 4: Reinstall CodeMeter by running the EasySIGN setup
- Download or locate the current EasySIGN setup.
- Run the EasySIGN setup.
- Follow the installation steps.
- The setup will install the required CodeMeter components again.
Step 5: Restart and test EasySIGN
- Restart Windows if requested by the installer.
- Open EasySIGN.
- Sign in with the EasySIGN account if requested.
- Check whether EasySIGN continues past Initializing and opens the workspace.
6. Validation
The issue is solved when:
• EasySIGN no longer remains on Initializing.
• The EasySIGN workspace opens correctly.
• The user can continue working in EasySIGN.
• The license is available after startup.
• Restarting EasySIGN still works correctly.
7. Important notes and limitations
• Check the EasySIGN license login status before reinstalling CodeMeter.
• Remove CodeMeter Runtime Kit through Windows, not by manually deleting files.
• Reinstall CodeMeter by running the EasySIGN setup again.
• Windows 11 Home was observed in the confirmed case, but the solution is not limited to Windows 11 Home.
• If EasySIGN still does not start after reinstalling CodeMeter, further troubleshooting is required.
• If the issue appears to be network-related, check the EasySIGN firewall and domain allowlisting article.
8. Support checklist
Before escalating the case, check:
• Does EasySIGN remain on Initializing?
• Is the user signing in with the correct EasySIGN account?
• Does the account have an active EasySIGN license?
• Has firewall or license server access been ruled out?
• Was CodeMeter Runtime Kit removed through Windows?
• Was the EasySIGN setup run again after removing CodeMeter?
• Was Windows restarted if required?
• Does EasySIGN open correctly after the reinstall?
• Does the issue return after closing and reopening EasySIGN?
9. Conclusion
When EasySIGN remains on Initializing, CodeMeter may be blocking the startup process.
After confirming that the license login status is correct, remove CodeMeter Runtime Kit through Windows and reinstall it by running the EasySIGN setup again. In the confirmed case, this restored EasySIGN startup and allowed the user to continue working.
